From the position of teacher for one student to seven high schools and over seven thousand students and five hundred teachers in a span of only 76 years is a proud record of any institution. The Indians of South Delhi-Madrasis are known, according to their friends in the north, for their intellectual wealth and community life, although they are less fortunate financially. When our pioneers established the first school in 1923, the small community in the then capital raised the necessary resources through small donations. There was a breakthrough and the pattern was laid down for the caliphs.

The upper secondary department started in 1946 and in 1949, the first group of students appeared for the Delhi high school exam. The Society’s Silver Jubilee was celebrated on March 5, 1950. In view of growing demand and need, two new elementary schools were opened, one at the Lodi Estate and one at Carroll Bagh, in 1951 and 1953 respectively. After the completion of its building for the Lodi State School in 1955, the upper secondary classes were moved from Mandir Marg to Lodi Estate in 1956.

A secondary school was opened in Lakshmipai Nagar (then known as East Vinay Nagar) in 1958 Marge School was raised and returned to the rank of secondary school in 1959. In 1960, the late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India, laid the foundation stone for Lakshmi Bai Nagar School. Moti Bagh Primary School opened in 1961 and Lakshmibai Nagar School was promoted to Upper Secondary School in 1962.
